Most TikTok accounts can't put a clickable website link on a video. TikTok doesn't document caption or comment links as clickable, so for most people the working route is the website link on your profile, plus a line in the video telling viewers where to find it.

There are two exceptions, both through the Add link option when you post: product links for TikTok Shop, and Destination Links for eligible verified businesses. Here's how each one works and who can use it.

Know what's clickable before you post

When you post a video in the TikTok app, the screen after Next has an Add link option alongside Add description, Add hashtags, Tag people and Add a location. That's the only place TikTok documents for attaching a link to a video itself, and the links it offers depend on your account.

Where you put the linkClickable?Who can use it
Caption or commentNot documented by TikTokAnyone can type a web address, but TikTok doesn't say it becomes a link
Product link (Add link, Products)Yes, opens a Product Details PageAccounts with TikTok Shop set up, in TikTok Shop countries
Destination Link (Add link, Destination Link)Yes, with a call to action buttonVerified Business Accounts with a pixel, in listed regions
Profile website linkYes, opens in TikTok's browser1,000+ followers, or a Verified Business Account

TikTok's help pages on posting and on comments don't describe typed web addresses turning into links. If you paste a URL into your caption, assume viewers will have to copy it by hand. Put the link on your profile and say "link in bio" in the caption or out loud in the video instead.

If you sell through TikTok Shop, or promote products from it as a creator, you can tag a product right on the video. You need a TikTok Shop set up first, and TikTok Shop is currently available in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States and Vietnam.

  1. Create your video in the TikTok app.
  2. On the Post screen, tap Add link.
  3. Select Products.
  4. In the Showcase, tap Add and choose the product you want to feature.
  5. Enter a product name, the one buyers will see.
  6. Tap Add, then tap Post.

Videos with product links go through an extra review. Once the product is approved, the link shows up on the video, and tapping it opens a Product Details Page where people can read about the product and buy it. TikTok's Business Help Center says the link appears above your username. TikTok Shop's US Seller Center describes it as a yellow shopping cart in the lower left of the video.

If you're a creator promoting someone else's products, TikTok Shop's US Seller Center says a product link lets you earn commission on TikTok Shop orders. When you tap Add link and product, products you received samples for appear in the list, and you can search by name. If a product isn't in your showcase yet, look under Add more product or Targeted invitation.

You can also start from the product: in TikTok Shop Creator Center, click Create Video, pick the product on the Product Selection page, edit the name buyers see, then make and post the video.

Destination Links are TikTok's way for brands to send viewers from a video to their own website. The link sits on the video and at the top of the comments, with a clickable call to action. They're limited, so check eligibility before you plan around them.

You need:

  • A Verified Business Account.
  • An active website pixel or eAPI connected during setup, with a complete payment event.
  • To be an e-commerce customer in a listed region, or one of the select customers outside e-commerce TikTok offers it to.

TikTok's region list for e-commerce customers, as it reads today, includes Canada, Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, South Korea and about thirty other countries, but not the United States or the United Kingdom. TikTok says regions vary for select customers.

If you qualify, create the link first:

  1. In the TikTok app, go to your Profile, open the Menu and tap Business Suite.
  2. Tap Destination Links, then Create.
  3. Fill in the link details and connect your pixel.
  4. Tap Submit. Approval can take about 6 hours.

Then attach it to a new video:

  1. Create the video in the TikTok app. It must use a commercial sound from the Commercial Music Library.
  2. On the Post screen, tap Add link, then Destination Link.
  3. Tap Add to choose the approved link.
  4. Pick a Call to Action and tap Add.
  5. Finish the video and tap Post.

You can keep up to 100 Destination Links in Business Suite, each with a different landing page, and attach one to any new or existing video. Attaching one to a video you've already posted has to be done in the desktop TikTok Business Suite. To take a link off, go to Business Suite, Destination Links, tap ... on the link, then Delete. Links still under review can't be deleted.

For everyone else, the profile link is the clickable link that works. You can add one if you have at least 1,000 followers or a Verified Business Account.

  1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
  2. Tap Edit profile.
  3. Next to Links, tap Add, then follow the steps.

A few things to know:

  • Links that open or log people into other social apps aren't supported anymore. A link to another platform's website still works.
  • Taps open in TikTok's in-app browser. For safety, TikTok limits how people browse chains of external links there, so visitors may be asked to open the page in their phone's browser.
  • TikTok recommends direct links, so people reach the page in just a few steps.
  • Your bio text is capped at 80 characters, so keep the call to action short.

Then make every video do the pointing. Say where the link is, show it on screen as text, and repeat it in the caption. Our full guide to adding a link to your TikTok bio has the details.

If you're under 1,000 followers

Your options are to grow past 1,000 followers or verify as a business. Business verification is for people 18 and over, needs a valid business license that matches the region where you operate, and usually takes 1 to 5 business days. A Verified Business Account also switches you to the Commercial Music Library instead of TikTok's general music library, so weigh that before you switch.

A single profile link has to serve every video you post: this week's product, your shop, your music, your booking page. One way to handle that is a link in bio page.

Olaa gives you one short link, olaa.im/yourname, that opens a page with everything you want people to find. The free plan includes one page, unlimited links, featured cards, music and video players that play on the page, and a QR code. If you sell, Olaa Pro ($8 a month or $72 a year) adds products with photo and price from Stripe, Etsy, Shopify or Gumroad, shown as a button or a buy card; checkout happens in your shop, and Olaa takes no cut. Pro also has scheduled links and up to 10 pages. See it for TikTok creators or compare plans on pricing.

FAQ

Can you put a clickable link in a TikTok caption?

TikTok doesn't document caption links as clickable. If you type a web address there, plan on viewers having to copy it. The reliable route is your profile link with a "link in bio" line in the caption.

Are links in TikTok comments clickable?

TikTok doesn't document clickable links in ordinary comments. The exception is Destination Links: an eligible Verified Business Account can attach a link that sits at the top of the comments with a clickable call to action.

Why don't I see Add link when I post?

TikTok's posting page lists Add link among the options after you tap Next, but which links it offers depends on your account. Product links need a TikTok Shop, and Destination Links need a Verified Business Account with an approved link. Without either, use your profile link.

Can I add a link to a TikTok video after posting it?

For Destination Links, yes: attach the link to an existing video in the desktop TikTok Business Suite. For other links, TikTok's help pages only describe adding them on the Post screen, before you publish.

How many followers do you need to add a link on TikTok?

For the profile website link, 1,000 followers, unless you have a Verified Business Account. You can read TikTok's profile link help page for the current rules.
