Turn TikTok's Profile view history on or off, see who visited your profile in the last 30 days, and give those visitors a bio and link worth tapping.

Yes, TikTok can show you who viewed your profile. Turn on Profile view history in Settings and privacy, then Privacy, then Profile views, and you'll see accounts that visited your profile in the past 30 days. It only works if you are 16 or older, have fewer than 5,000 followers, and the visitor has the same setting turned on.

Who can use Profile view history

TikTok keeps this feature to a specific group of accounts. Here is what decides whether you have it and whether a visit shows up.

RuleWhat TikTok says
AgeYou must be 16 years or older
FollowersYou must have fewer than 5,000 followers
DefaultThe setting is off until you turn it on
Time windowYou see visits from the past 30 days
Visitors you seeOnly accounts that also have the setting on

That last row is the one that surprises people. A visit only appears when both accounts have Profile view history turned on. If someone looks at your profile with the setting off, you will never see them in your list, no matter how many times they visit.

If you have 5,000 followers or more, the setting won't be available to you. TikTok's help page doesn't say what happens to an existing list once an account crosses that line.

Turn it on or off from Settings and privacy

This is the main route, and it works whether the feature is currently on or off.

  1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
  2. Tap the Menu button (three lines) at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
  3. Tap Privacy, then tap Profile views.
  4. Turn the Profile view history setting on or off.

You can switch it back and forth at any time. Remember that it starts off for every account, so if you've never touched it, it's off.

Two shortcuts: your inbox and your profile

TikTok also gives you two quicker ways to reach the list and its setting.

From your inbox

  1. Tap Inbox at the bottom.
  2. Tap Activities, then tap the notification that someone has viewed your profile, or tap Profile views. You may need to scroll down to find it.
  3. On your Profile views page, tap the Settings button at the top.
  4. Turn Profile view history on or off.

From your profile

  1. Tap Profile at the bottom.
  2. Tap the Profile views button at the top.
  3. Tap the Settings button at the top.
  4. Turn Profile view history on or off.

The Profile views page is where your list of recent visitors lives. Only you can see who's on it.

It works both ways, so think about privacy first

Profile view history is mutual. When you turn it on, you agree that other people can see when you view their profiles, as long as they have the setting on too. When you turn it off, you stop seeing your visitors, and other people stop seeing your visits.

A few things follow from that:

  • It's one switch for both. You can't see your own visitors while hiding your visits from others.
  • Turn it off before you browse. If you visit someone with the setting on and they have it on as well, your visit can appear in their list for the next 30 days.
  • Turning it off is the privacy choice. If you don't want anyone to know you looked at their profile, keep Profile view history off, which is also the default.

If you're helping a teen with their account, note that the feature is only open to people 16 and older.

What Profile view history doesn't show

The list is narrower than many people expect. It does not show:

  • Visitors with the setting off. The setting is off by default, so your list may leave out many of the people who looked.
  • Visits older than 30 days. Anything earlier drops off.
  • Who watched your videos. That's a separate feature called Post view history, found under Settings and privacy, Privacy, Post views.

Post view history has its own rules. It shows views from followers who also have it on, plus people who don't follow you but liked or commented on your posts, whatever their own setting. It only covers posts from the last 7 days, and it has the same limits: 16 or older, fewer than 5,000 followers. Even with Post view history off, your likes and comments on someone's posts still show up to them as views. Story view history is separate again and isn't affected by either setting.

TikTok lays out both features on its help pages: Profile view history and Post view history.

Give profile visitors something to do

Knowing who visited is interesting. Turning a visit into a follow, a sale or a booking is the useful part. Someone who opens your profile has already decided you're worth a closer look. What they find there is your videos, your bio and your link.

Make the bio do one job. Say who you are and what someone gets from following, in plain words. If you sell something, say what. If you post on a schedule, say when. Our TikTok bio ideas have examples by niche you can adapt, and if you haven't updated yours in a while, here's how to change your bio on TikTok.

Point to one clear next step. "Shop the drop below" or "Book a session below" works better than a list of five things. The bio sets up the tap; the link has to deliver it.

Make sure the link works. Tap it yourself from another account or a logged out phone. Check that it opens fast, fits a phone screen and leads somewhere that matches what your bio promised. Our guide to adding a link to your TikTok bio walks through where the link goes and how to set it up.

Check back after you post. If your Profile views list grows after a video, that's a hint the video sent people to your profile. Look at what it did differently and try more like it.

Where Olaa fits

If you have more than one place to send people, a single bio link can hold all of them. Olaa is a link in bio tool: you get one short link, olaa.im/yourname, that opens a page with everything you want people to find. Setup takes a few minutes and needs no code, and you paste olaa.im/yourname into your TikTok bio.

The free plan includes one page, unlimited links, every look, font and background, social icons, a QR code and 7 days of analytics. Music and video players, including TikTok, play right on the page. Olaa Pro, at $8 a month or $72 a year, adds products from Stripe, Etsy, Shopify or Gumroad with checkout in your own shop and no cut taken by Olaa, email signups sent to Mailchimp, 30 and 90 day analytics and up to 10 pages. FAQ

Can I see who viewed my TikTok profile if they have the setting off?

No. You only see visits from accounts that also have Profile view history turned on. Anyone with the setting off can view your profile without showing up in your list.

How far back does TikTok profile view history go?

Thirty days. Your Profile views page shows accounts that viewed your profile in the past 30 days, and older visits drop off the list.

Why don't I have the Profile views option?

TikTok only offers it to people who are 16 years or older and have fewer than 5,000 followers. If you meet both and still can't find it, check Settings and privacy, then Privacy, then Profile views, or tap Profile views at the top of your profile.

Will someone know I viewed their TikTok profile?

Only if you both have Profile view history turned on. If yours is off, your visit won't appear in their list. The setting is off by default, so unless you turned it on, they won't see you.

Does profile view history show who watched my videos?

No. Video views are a separate feature, Post view history, under Settings and privacy, Privacy, Post views. It covers posts from the last 7 days and follows its own rules about who appears.

Does TikTok tell me when someone views my profile?

Yes, when the feature is on. A notification that someone has viewed your profile appears in Inbox under Activities, and tapping it opens your Profile views list.
