How to Add a Link (or Several) to Your Instagram Bio
How to add a link to your Instagram bio, step by step: native links, Story link stickers, why captions don't click, and when a link page works better.

Your Instagram bio is one of the few places on the app where a link actually works. People see a post, tap your name, and look for the next step. If there is no link, or the wrong one, that visit ends there. This guide shows you how to add a link to your Instagram bio, how to add more than one, how Story link stickers work, and what to do when one link isn't enough.
How to add a link to your Instagram bio
Instagram moves menus around now and then, so the labels in your app may be slightly different. The path has stayed close to this for a while:
- Open Instagram and tap your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
- Tap Edit profile.
- Tap Links. On some older versions of the app this field is called Website.
- Tap Add external link.
- Paste your full address, including
https://, and add a short title if you want one. - Tap Done or the checkmark to save.
Then tap the link on your profile to check it. A typo in your bio can sit there for months before anyone tells you.
If you're also setting up TikTok or Facebook, we cover all three in how to add a link in bio on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.
How to add multiple links to your Instagram bio
Instagram lets you add up to five links to your profile, and this is open to personal, creator and business accounts. You add each one the same way: Edit profile, Links, Add external link. Once you have more than one, you can drag them into the order you want.
That sounds like it solves the problem. In practice it has a few downsides:
- Only the first link shows up front. Visitors see your first link with a note like "and 4 others" beside it. The rest sit behind an extra tap, and many people never make it.
- They're just text. No images, no descriptions, nothing that tells a visitor why they should tap.
- Five is the ceiling. If you have a shop, a newsletter, a podcast and a new release, you run out fast.
- You can't see what works. Instagram doesn't give you a simple view of which bio link gets tapped and which gets ignored.
So put your most important link first. If you need more than that, keep reading.
How to use the Instagram link sticker in Stories
Stories are the other place where you can make a clickable link on Instagram. Any account can use the link sticker. There's no follower minimum anymore. Private accounts can use it too, though only followers will see it. Instagram does block accounts that repeatedly share misinformation or hate speech from using it.
To add one:
- Start a new Story and add your photo or video.
- Tap the sticker icon at the top of the screen.
- Choose Link.
- Paste your address. You can also change the text the sticker shows, which helps. "Get the recipe" beats a bare web address.
- Place the sticker where people will see it, then share.
Stories disappear after 24 hours, so link stickers suit things that are happening now: a drop, a live event, a new episode. You can save a Story to a Highlight to keep the link around longer.
Broadcast channels
If you run a broadcast channel, you can share links there as well. It reaches people who chose to join, so it works best for updates you'd send to your most engaged followers.
Why links in captions aren't clickable
If you paste an address into a post or Reel caption, it shows up as plain text. Nobody can tap it, and few people will copy it by hand. Instagram has tested clickable caption links, and links in Reels, for some Meta Verified subscribers, with a monthly cap. That isn't something most accounts have, so check your app, since Instagram changes this often.
For now, the reliable move is to point people somewhere they can tap. Instead of pasting a link, say what to do and where:
- "Link in bio for the full tutorial."
- "Tap my profile, the first link is the pattern."
- "Check my Story for the sign-up link."
Be specific. "Link in bio" works better when people know which link to look for once they get there.
When a link page beats a list of plain links
This is where a link page comes in. It's a single web page that holds everything you want to share. You put its address in your bio as your one link, and it does the rest. It's also what people mean when they ask how to add Linktree to Instagram: you copy your page's address and paste it into the Links field, using the same steps as above.
A link page makes sense when:
- You have more than one or two things to share at once.
- What you're promoting changes every week, and you're tired of editing your profile.
- You want people to see what's behind a link before they tap it.
- You want to know which links people actually click.
- You'd like visitors to sign up, listen or watch without leaving the page.
If you only ever share one thing, like your shop, a plain bio link is fine. Most people outgrow that quickly.
What to put on your link page
Start with what someone who just found you would want. Then add what you want them to do. A good order:
- Your newest or most important thing at the top. The thing you're talking about in your posts this week.
- Your evergreen links. Shop, booking page, portfolio, newsletter.
- A way to stay in touch. An email signup or a contact form, so a visit doesn't end at a tap.
- Your other profiles. Small icons for TikTok, YouTube and anywhere else you post.
Keep labels short. "Book a session" tells people more than "Click here." Remove links once they go stale.
How Olaa helps
Olaa gives you one page with an address like olaa.im/yourname. You put that in your Instagram bio, and everything else lives there.
On your page you can add:
- Links to anything, arranged how you like.
- A music or video player that plays right on the page, so people can listen to your track or watch your video without leaving.
- Collections shown as a grid or a carousel, handy for products, past work or a playlist of episodes.
- A countdown to a launch, a release or an event.
- An email signup that can send new subscribers straight to Mailchimp.
- A contact form so people can reach you without hunting for your email.
- Social icons under your bio, linking to your other profiles.
You also get analytics on visits and clicks, so you can see which links people use. The free plan shows the last 7 days, and Pro shows 30 or 90 days.
When you post something new, you update your Olaa page, not your Instagram profile. Your bio link stays the same.
